INTERNATIONAL MEDIA OFFICER
EPFL’s Media and Communications Service (Mediacom) is looking for a native English speaker (English must be your mother tongue) with a scientific degree and/or a qualification in journalism or scientific communication. Above all, passionate about science and technology, and communicating it. Excellent interpersonal skills, extremely flexible and able to work with a wide range of media types. The position entails some travel as well as occasional work in the evenings and weekends. Main tasks/responsibilities: activation and development of EPFL’s international media strategy; identification of scientific and academic subjects with potential impact overseas; creation of editorial content for EPFL news, features and press releases, including video interviews, in English; organization and implementation of international media events and visits, maintaining good relations with EPFL’s existing International contacts as well as extending our network to new markets. Start date: September 2012 or as soon as possible.

CORRESPONDANT COMMUNICATION
Le service Médiacom-Evénements de l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Suisse) cherche un(e) correspondant(e) communication à 80-100%. Bilingue absolu français-anglais (obligatoire), de formation scientifique et/ou en journalisme ou en communication scientifique. L’EPFL est avant tout à la recherche d’une personnalité très réactive, sachant marier la qualité du contenu rédactionnel à la forme (mise en page, illustrations) des différents supports de communication. Tâches principales: soutien quotidien de la Présidence à différentes tâches de communication quotidienne (revue de presse, rédaction et traductions de textes…), réalisation de présentations Powerpoint et de différents supports de communication. Le travail implique des interventions les soirs et les week-ends. Entrée en fonction: 1er juin 2012 ou à convenir.

PHD STUDENT IN APPLIED PHYSICS / MICRO-ENGINEERING
CSEM (Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology), is a private applied research and development center specializing in micro and nanotechnology, system engineering microelectronics and communications technologies. The Innovative Design group within the Nanomedicine division is looking for a PhD student in Applied Physics/Micro-Engineering to contribute to their research and development activities in the fields of micro-engineering and optoelectronics, within the framework of a European FP7 project. The overall goal of the project is the development of an innovative, cost-effective technology platform providing a total solution for the detection, identification, and measurement of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) in complex matrices. The ideal candidate holds a Master Degree in Applied Physics, Micro/Nanotechnologies, Electrical Engineering or equivalent and has experience with optoelectronic sensors and/or microfluidics, complemented by skills in electronics and signal processing.

Le Centre de MicroNanoTechnologie de l’EPFL, cherche un(e) technicien(e) de maintenance en photolithographie avec connaissances approfondies en mécanique, électronique et optique, au bénéfice de quelques années de pratiques dans les techniques de photolithographie, un intérêt pour la haute technologie nécessaire à la recherche scientifique, le sens du dialogue et de la collaboration dans le cadre d’équipes pluridisciplinaires et des connaissances parlées en anglais technique. Tâches: travail dans une salle blanche de classe ISO 5 pour wafers 100mm dans le domaine des MEMS, équipements de photolithographie principalement, entretien des équipements pour les procédés de microfabrication, support et formation des utilisateurs sur l’utilisation des équipement, participation à la mise au point et au suivi des procédés, dépannages et maintenance préventive des équipements, contacts réguliers avec les fournisseurs des équipements.
