ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP IN QUANTITATIVE GEOMORPHOLOGY
The Faculty of Geosciences and Environment at the University of Lausanne invites applications for an associate professorship in Quantitative Geomorphology with a particular focus upon but not limited to: denudation and sediment production in relation to landscape evolution at high altitudes and high latitudes. A specialisation in modelling and/or dating would be particularly welcome.

The successful candidate will teach at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. The candidate is expected to have a proven research record and to develop a vigorous, internationally recognized research program at Lausanne attracting external funding. Appointment is expected at the Associate Professor level, but hiring at a tenure-track Assistant Professor level, with Associate Professor status within 5-6 years, is possible in exceptional cases.

POST-DOCTORAL POSITION – INFECTIOUS DISEASES SERVICE
A post-doctoral position is available to study the role of the cytokine macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in dendritic cell ontogeny and effector functions bridging innate and adaptive immunity. The research project will focus primarily on dendritic cell biology and function, including capture and killing of microbial pathogens, cell activation, maturation, expression and release of effector molecules and priming of the adaptive immune response (antigen processing, presentation, activation of T cells and differentiation of T cells subsets).

Applications are invited from candidates (PhD or MD/PhD) with a strong background in innate immunity and dendritic cells biology. We are looking for highly motivated applicants with a good organizational and analytical skills and a good practice of English. Experience/skills in immunology, cell biology, biochemisty and molecular biology (cell culture, flow cytometry, real-time PCR, Western blotting and ELISA) is required. The candidate is expected to supervise PhD or MD students.

FULL PROFESSOR IN ENGLISH LINGUISTICS (OR ASSISTANT PROF. TENURE TRACK)
The appointee will be able to cover the field of English linguistics, with a specialisation preferably in sociolinguistics and/or historical linguistics. He/She will have experience in advanced academic-level English teaching and an outstanding international publication record in English linguistics (in the case of an Assistant Professor Tenure Track appointment, an excellent publication record with strong indication of a developing international profile). Teaching in the English department is in English, but the appointee will be expected to have a working knowledge of French.

The appointee will be expected to teach 6 hours per week (4 hrs for Assist. Prof.) at all levels within the Bachelor and Master programmes. He/She will be expected to take part in postgraduate teaching and to supervise MA and doctoral dissertations. The appointee will be expected to pursue his/her own research and publish at an international level. He/She will be required to take on some of the administrative tasks of the department and of the Faculty.
